Chapter Two

The Letter

The letter was written on brown parchment paper, the words written in black ink with blobs and smudges all over it. It was short, but oh so sweet.

Dear Rhea,

I have heard about your unfortunate accident. I think my friends and I could help you. Meet me by the Great Oak in the woods at midnight tonight.

Come alone.

Your friend,

H.P? The only H.P. she knew was the famous wizard Harry Potter! It couldn’t be him. Could it? And the friends he mentioned…could he mean Hermione and Ron? But why should they be interested in a small girl from a small town? Rhea had read all about Harry Potter’s adventures and had dreamed of meeting him one day but she had never believed that she actually would! For the first time in 3 months, Rhea felt hope. If anyone could help her, Harry Potter could.

She looked at the clock: 4pm. Still 8 hours until midnight! How was she going to wait for another 8 hours? She paced up and down her room, ignoring the snowflakes that had started to fall. Any heightened emotions triggered the powers – if she carried on like this the room would be full of snow within an hour. Suddenly she stopped. She knew what she had to do. It was time to write her story.
